What is MAKERVILLE's Purpose?
MAKERVILLE’s primary purpose is to serve as a workshop and retreat for its founders, dedicated to nurturing and promoting their creative and professional endeavors.

Its secondary purpose is to provide a home for “MAKERVILLE PRESENTS” and to serve as a venue for social and professional gatherings centered on learning, creative expression and community.

MAKERVILLE is part of a burgeoning worldwide maker movement that focuses on handcraft, artistry, nature, creativity, community and measured escape from an increasingly mediated world.

The Facility
The MAKERVILLE facility is centered on a large enclosed event pavilion that was developed originally by the Indio Elks Lodge #1643 for use as a weekend retreat and party venue. It has been transformed by MAKERVILLE founders and includes a well-appointed kitchen/dining room attached to a rustic 2,600 sq. ft. open plan workshop/event space. Also on the property are campsites of varying degrees of rusticity for use by founders and invited visitors.

The grounds consist of ten acres of natural pinyon pine-studded desert wilderness and are surrounded on all sides by protected federal land with uninterrupted mountain views. Nearby are many popular hiking trails including the Pinyon and Live Oak Canyon trails that connect to the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.

MAKERVILLE is fifteen miles (a 20 minute drive) south  of Palm Desert, CA just off State Highway 74. The property is accessed on paved roads and is adjacent to the Sawmill Trailhead Parking Lot on Pinyon Flats Transfer Station Road.
